Who are your competitors?

Think of this not just in terms of single people and their businesses, or other businesses, but more globally as well.

If you sell gardening tools, a DIY tool maker could be your competitor for that precious time on weekends that can be either spend gardening, or fixing up the house, but not both. You might therefore choose to point out in your advertising that gardening is good for your health and time well spent as a way to encourage people to get out more, do more gardening – and get new gardening tools instead of new DIY tools!
